Mammoet Wind Brande Mammoet Wind Delivering to Clyde Windfarm Extension escorted by Police Scotland Ally Macpherson Services Ltd. Mammoet Wind Brande was tasked by DSV one of the world’s leading global transport and logistical solution giants to deliver a Siemens 54 turbine extension known as “Clyde 2” to the existing 152 turbine Clyde Wind Farm known as “Clyde 1” located between Biggar, Abington and Moffat in Scotland. The build of the 54 turbine wind farm, was managed by principal contractors Balfour Beatty, and took place over a two year period mobilising from the existing Clyde access A at Wandel, A702 within South Lanarkshire and via a secondary forestry access south of Tweedsmuir on the A701 within Scottish Borders, The extension is positioned in the land surrounding Camps Reservoir to the north-east of the original Clyde Wind Farm project which was completed in and is situated within both Scottish Borders and South Lanarkshire Council areas. The extension will create an infill between the central and north sections of the existing Clyde Wind Farm. Anyone Who knows the area around Moffat and Abington know that the terrain isn’t the most forgiving and to most is a challenge that would send the toughest running for cover but not the team at Mammoet Wind Brande who like to flourish in environments that other say can’t be tackled or overcome. Just like Clyde 1 the Clyde 2 project covered very harsh hilly and unforgiving terrain and is by far one of the most technical, stressful yet interesting projects to date I have ever been invited along to witness. We were lucky enough to be invited out with the team on for a visit too Clyde Windfarm Extension 2 weeks before completion and boy what a display the of Power, Dedication and Determination the team at Mammoet Wind and Ally Macpherson Services showed.
